Coastal Ocean Modeling and Observation Program: Real-time Adaptive Sampling Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
Specific current objectives include: (a) Implementation of a comprehensive coastal prediction system incorporating atmospheric, benthic and bio-optical submodels; (b) Construction of shipboard/autonomous subsurface sampling network beneath spatially extensive remotely sensed surface observations; (c) Development of data-assimilative and visualization interfaces for modeldirected adaptive sampling; and (d) Evaluation of nowcast/forecast skill in multiple regions.

Long-term Real-time Coastal Ocean Observation Networks
I n t r o d u c t i o n Oceanographers are well acquainted with the challenges of working in an undersampled ocean, Observations are often sparse, difficult or expensive to acquire, and may not even be available to the sea-going scientist until they have physically reached their study site by boat. Much is often left to chance if the scientist's interests lie in the study of episodic events tha...
متن کاملRobust Opponent Modeling in Real-Time Strategy Games using Bayesian Networks
Opponent modeling is a key challenge in Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games as the environment is adversarial in these games, and the player cannot predict the future actions of her opponent. Additionally, the environment is partially observable due to the fog of war. In this paper, we propose an opponent model which is robust to the observation noise existing due to the fog of war. In order to cope...
متن کاملCoordination of an Underwater Glider Fleet for Adaptive Ocean Sampling
The Autonomous Ocean Sampling Network-II (AOSN-II) and Adaptive Sampling And Prediction (ASAP) projects aim to develop a sustainable, portable, adaptive ocean observing and prediction system for use in coastal environments. These projects employ, among other observation platforms, autonomous underwater vehicles that carry sensors to measure physical and biological signals in the ocean. The meas...
متن کاملAdaptive Sampling in the Coastal Ocean at the Long Ecosystem Observatory
A multi-platform inter-disciplinary observation network has been operating at the Rutgers University Long-term Ecosystem Observatory (LEO) since 1996, with real-time capabilities beginning in July 1999. The network integrates numerous remote (satellites and shorebased), stationary (surface and subsurface), moveable (ships and AUVs) observation systems. The observation network provides spatially...
متن کاملThe Long-Term Ecosystem Observatory: An Integrated Coastal Observatory
An integrated ocean observatory has been developed and operated in the coastal waters off the central coast of New Jersey, USA. One major goal for the Long-term Ecosystem Observatory (LEO) is to develop a real-time capability for rapid environmental assessment and physical/biological forecasting in coastal waters. To this end, observational data are collected from satellites, aircrafts, ships, ...
